Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary has followed Simon Cowell, Sir Philip Green, Holly Willoughby, Lord Sugar and Jeremy Clarkson to become the latest high-profile personality to feature in a bitcoin scam, operated by fraudsters who steal celebrities’ images and make up quotes to lure unsuspecting investors into a cryptocurrency ripoff.
The campaign featuring O’Leary was published by a bogus news platform called dailynews-finance and appears as advertising content on a number of popular websites. Featuring the airline chief’s image, it claims he encouraged Late Late Show viewers to sign up for Bitcoin Lifestyle, an auto trading website.
