AMAZON FBA

FBA Small and Light requirements changes

Share The Knowledge

FBA Small and Light requirements are aligning with standard FBA. The main change will be that you can no longer bundle items when shipping to Amazon, each item will require it’s own barcode.

FBA Small and Light requirements: Bundling change

Effective immediately, the bundling of Small and Light units is no longer required. You can now send in your inventory as standard FBA.

Bundling will no longer be allowed starting June 1, 2021. As of this date, same-ASIN units cannot be bundled together when the Amazon barcode or the total number of sellable units is on the outside of the packaging. Examples of such packaging include the following:

  • Bag
  • Manufacturer case pack
  • Seller case pack

If products are shipped with a barcode on the outside of the packaging, rather than on individual items, the bundle may be incorrectly scanned as a single unit. This shipping defect can delay receiving. Even worse, if Amazon don’t catch it I’m guessing that they might ship your entire quantity to a customer that purchased a single quantity so make sure you update your packaging processes.

Amazon barcode requirement in the UK and Germany

From the 1st of June 2021, FBA Small and Light requirements will require that each individual unit has an Amazon barcode in the UK and Germany. This requirement already exists for France, Italy, and Spain.

To learn how to print and apply the barcodes yourself, download How to label products.

If you don’t want to do the work yourself, you can also sign up for the FBA Label Service to have Amazon apply the labels for you. The label service is currently free for Small and Light products that are enrolled in the UK and Germany (£0.15 per-item for standard FBA items), and €0.09 per unit for products that are enrolled in France, Italy, and Spain. More information is available at FBA product barcode requirements.

Adhering to shipping and packaging requirements will help you to avoid unplanned prep services and delays in receiving your inventory.
